FAQ

Tryouts are held the first week of November.  The team is typically announced at the end of the tryout week.

Coaches determine the number of players they want to carry on the roster and may choose to make cuts. MHSAA determines maximum rostering limits.

Currently there is no JV hockey team at Dexter.  We encourage incoming freshman to train with the team the summer before entering high school. 

High School hockey is a winter sport and officially begins the first week of November and runs through March.  Off-season activities run throughout spring/summer/fall (see below)

The team has optional but highly-encouraged training throughout the spring/summer/fall.  This includes practices, off-ice conditioning, and team-building activities. 

Dexter's home ice is Veterans Memorial Ice Arena at 2150 Jackson Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48103

Dexter Varsity hockey is a self-funded sport.  Families can expect to pay ~$2000-2500 which go to program costs such as ice time, referees, and gear.  Costs may vary based on number of players and fundraising success. 

Yes!  Dexter Varsity Hockey is a self-funded sport.  Fundraising is a critical activity for all current and prospective players to cover program costs.  Fundraising begins the summer before the season and runs through fall.

Dexter Hockey Club has a skill skate program for Middle School and Elementary aged players.  Coaching staff and Alumni players run a series of skates designed to get Dexter Youth engaged and excited about Ice Hockey.  We celebrate the Mini/Middle Dreads at our Community Night Home Game!  Send us an email if you are interested in learning more!
